On Dec. 7, world leaders from 192 countries will gather in Copenhagen for the United Nations Climate Change Conference. The main goal of this meeting is to limit future carbon emissions and minimize the effects of climate change.
How would a tiny little soap company like Method get involved in that?
As awesome as a company outing to Denmark would be (and to visit one of the world’s greenest cities for inspiration), we are supporting this landmark meeting of the minds by partnering with Hopenhagen, the people’s voice of COP15.
Through the grassroots Hopenhagen movement, we have the opportunity to help connect a global community of people who want the same things we at Method want – solutions to our existing environmental crisis, and a better, healthier future for us and our planet.
You know that Method is in the business of creating change. Our list of achievements in sustainability is long, from being a founding B Corporation to having the most Cradle to Cradle certified products of any company in the world. Supporting Hopenhagen is another way we can use our loud and proud company voice to motivate and ignite action among our friends.
A few ways YOU can take action:
· Become a global citizen of Hopenhagen visit our page and you can also claim a FREE Method gift as a special thank you for taking part.
· Create a Hopenhagen passport on Facebook and utilize your social network to spread the good word.
· Enter the Hopenhagen Ambassador contest on HuffingtonPost.com for a chance to attend the conference in Copenhagen as a Citizen Journalist. All expenses paid to Denmark? Yes, please!
Don’t ever think that your voice is too small to make a difference.
Which leads me to one of my favorite quotes (which I’m sure I’ve botched here):
“People should work together. Take freckles, for example. If they all came together, they’d make a nice tan.”
And in the perhaps more prolific words of the Hopenhagen community:
“Hopenhagen is change – and that change will be powered by all of us.”
