There can be no sustainability without transparency. That's because no business
today, and no product, is yet sustainable. So in order to reach sustainability,
then, you have to be committed to getting continually better. Transparency encourages
dialogue and innovation, and therefore, is a cornerstone of sustainability.
We believe that a company is only truly authentic when it is completely clear about
how it runs its business, what its products are, and how it makes them. Instead
of focusing on marketing our green efforts, we know we're only as good as what we've
done lately, so we focus our efforts on what sustainable innovation we can bring
to our business or products next. We enable people to easily evaluate anything about
the products we make, how we make them, and how we run our company so that we can
solicit more, better, ideas about how to get better.
We are proud of the ingredients in our products, the packages we design for them,
and the ways we manufacture them. We want people to know all about them, so we try
to make all of this accessible and clear. But most importantly, we want to know
where we can improve what we're not doing well enough yet already.
On each product page> on our website there is
a link to the >full ingredient list, with
complete technical ingredient names, their function, and a summary of the health
and environmental assessment that our 3rd party material scientists do for every
ingredient. You will also see information and examples of
how we make our products. Making the whole story of what they are, what
they do, and why we chose them available is one way we build continuous improvement
into our business.
On our product labels, we have either a list of the technical ingredient names (as
is required for body care products), or a list of simplified names (on our home
care and laundry products). We use these simplified names, well, to keep things
simple. On product labels where space is at a premium, we summarize the most relevant
aspects for each ingredient and provide a link to where you can get more information
online.
